Aimée Backus began playing the flute at age 10 in her school’s band program and was hooked! Throughout high school she participated in a variety of ensembles including Pennsylvania’s district, regional, and all-state bands and orchestras. Aimée attended Ithaca College where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and graduated magna cum laude. She completed a Master of Music Performance at Binghamton University in 2022.

After the completion of her studies at Ithaca College in 2009, Aimée traveled to Amman, Jordan where she performed as principal flute with the Amman Symphony Orchestra, gave solo and chamber recitals, and taught collegiate-level courses and flute lessons at the National Music Conservatory of Jordan. After returning home to the United States, Aimee studied intensively with Charlotte Symphony flutist Elizabeth Landon and earned a teaching certification in the Suzuki Talent Education Method for flute. Her teaching emphasizes the development of solid musicianship, tone, technique, and problem-solving skills in a nurturing environment. Aimée is the co-founder of Binghamton Flute Camp, a summer intensive for young flutists. She performs with various chamber groups throughout the Binghamton area including The Flute Collective of the Southern Tier. Aimée also serves as the choir director at the United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton.
