A full-time guitar instructor for over twenty years, I entered the world of teaching Suzuki classical guitar in 2023.
With my experience teaching and performing, I already had many techniques and materials with which to convey the subtleties of guitar, ear training, music theory and reading. Suzuki helps my approach be even more effective, especially with the youngest of beginners.
I guess a bio is where a person usually sings their own accolades, so I suppose I could point out how my students have gone on to study classical guitar at institutions such as Northwestern University and Pepperdine University. Or I could point to some of my published video performances, such those of the Bach Lute Suites (BWV 997) or my faculty recital at Joliet Junior College, where I am an adjunct professor.
But if you are reading this and considering me as a teacher, the most important thing I can convey is that I take the responsibility of teaching children seriously. I’m always prepared, I’m always learning, and I’m always thankful for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, to be of service to them, and keep wonderful music alive and thriving.
