Additional Schedule Information

Piano Unit 5 will meet for 6 Mondays from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on April 17, April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15 and May 22. Note: There WILL be class on Monday, April 17th (Patriot’s Day in Massachusetts) remotely only. Please be aware that outside time for practicing the repertoire, completing written observations and notes, and readings will be necessary as part of the course. Course is hybrid for in person participants or remote. Monday, April 17th is online only (due to the Boston Marathon).

Prerequisite course:

Piano Unit 3

Audition: Piano Comprehensive.

Trainer Information

Sachiko Isihara

​Now going on her 23rd year as Executive Director of the Suzuki School of Newton,Sachiko Isihara is a pianist by training earning her Bachelor’s in Piano Performance at New England Conservatory and a Master’s in Piano Performance at Juilliard. She has been a member of SAA since 1984. Her Suzuki training includes being a Kenkyusei in Matsumoto in 1993 and a long term apprenticeship with Colette Daltier in France. Sachiko has completed European Suzuki Level 5. In 2008, she became an SAA Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer. In 2009 Sachiko became the director of Suzuki By the Green Piano Institute held in Newton, MA. She has served on the Newton Cultural Alliance Board of Directors since 2013, serving as Clerk. She was a 2014 participant of the CAELI Leadership Institute held by the National Guild for Community Arts Education and in 2018 earned the Guild’s Milestone Award.
