Additional Schedule InformationClass will meet T/Th 9:35—10:50am EST. This course is part of a long-term course for University credit, also open to community members. It includes 10 hours for the SAA Supplemental course, Teaching Strategies—a mini-practicum where each participant will provide two 6-10 minute videos of their own teaching. Participants can join in person at the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music, or online via zoom.

Viola Unit 1, or Violin Unit 1
Audition: Violin Basic, or Violin Intermediate, or Violin Comprehensive, or Viola Basic, or Viola Intermediate, or Viola Comprehensive.
Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by January 14 *
*A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before November 19. If submitted within 8-weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply.

Trainer Information

Kristin Jutras, Director of the UGA Community Music School, began studying the violin at age 5 in the Eastman School of Music Preparatory Department in Rochester, NY. She went on to receive both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in violin performance as well as a Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School and became a full-time member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Orchestra, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Since moving to Georgia in 2006, Kristin’s focus has shifted to teaching using the Suzuki Method. In 2016 she was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and in 2019 became a Suzuki Method Violin Teacher Trainer. She currently serves as a co-director of the Atlanta Suzuki Institute, and in Fall 2020, will begin teaching Suzuki Violin Pedagogy courses at the University of Georgia.
