Class meets Fri 1/8 10 to 1; sat 1/9 10 to 1; sun 1/10 12:30 to 3:30; Sat. 1/16 10-1; Sun. 1/17 12:30-3:30 Chicago time. One book report, 8 hours of observations, play book from memory for me, one wrap-up. Group class teaching segment. Additional observations available from Music Institute of Chicago. Possible to start observations immediately after registering for course. Course material available on TEAMS.

Prerequisite course:

Cello Unit 1

Audition: Cello Basic, or Cello Intermediate, or Cello Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by January 9 *
*A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before November 14. If submitted within 8-weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply.

Trainer Information

Tanya Carey

Tanya Lesinsky Carey, cellist, has presented master classes and concerts in over 15 countries and the USA. She was assistant principal of the Milwaukee Symphony, presented concerts in Tully and Carnegie Halls, performed concertos with orchestra, and made two records with the Lydian Trio with Almita and Roland Vamos. She and her husband released the CD Golden Celebration to positive national review. Her students have won prizes in major contests. She is author of Cello Playing is Easy; Artist Teacher at Roosevelt University and Music Institute of Chicago Academy; maintains a studio; and is a sought after clinician.
