This course will be held on six Mondays from 10:00 am to 1:15 pm: Feb 5, Feb. 12th, Feb 26th, March 4, March 18, and March 25th.

There will be no class on Monday, Feb. 19th (President’s Day) and no class on 3/11.

Completion of the comprehensive audition is a pre-requisite for this course. It is highly encouraged that unit courses be taken in order. Careful study of all the repertoire from book 1 through all of book 5 is strongly encouraged before the start of the course.

Prerequisite course:

Piano Unit 3

Audition: Piano Comprehensive.

Trainer Information

Sachiko Isihara

​Now going on her 23rd year as Executive Director of the Suzuki School of Newton,Sachiko Isihara is a pianist by training earning her Bachelor’s in Piano Performance at New England Conservatory and a Master’s in Piano Performance at Juilliard. She has been a member of SAA since 1984. Her Suzuki training includes being a Kenkyusei in Matsumoto in 1993 and a long term apprenticeship with Colette Daltier in France. Sachiko has completed European Suzuki Level 5. In 2008, she became an SAA Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer. In 2009 Sachiko became the director of Suzuki By the Green Piano Institute held in Newton, MA. She has served on the Newton Cultural Alliance Board of Directors since 2013, serving as Clerk. She was a 2014 participant of the CAELI Leadership Institute held by the National Guild for Community Arts Education and in 2018 earned the Guild’s Milestone Award.
