Event Description

This 10-hour Enrichment Class is for all string instruments. It’s participatory and active. Bring your instruments for the Teacher Sessions.

Topics:
- Techniques for increasing student engagement in a group setting
- Multi-level teaching
- Combined instrument Group Classes
- Cello things you need to know if you are a violinist teaching a cello group class

Schedule: 
Sunday, October 9            
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Teacher session
6:00 pm – 6:45 pm Demonstration Class
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Teacher session

Monday, October 10       
8:30 am – 10:30 am Demonstration Classes
10:30 am – 11:30 am  Teacher Session

Trainer Information

Carey Beth Hockett

Carey Beth Hockett has been actively involved in the Suzuki world for more than 40 years. She taught at the Ithaca Talent Education School and then for the London Suzuki Group and is now on the faculty of the Colburn School in Los Angeles. She was a member of the International Suzuki Association’s Cello Committee and served as repertoire consultant to the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in England and the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. She teaches string pedagogy at the Colburn Conservatory and is the Director of the schools’ Jumpstart String Program.
