Hi All

Does anyone have experience or advice in establishing a music school as not for profit? I recently moved to a new city, and I’ve found the perfect place to have lessons and group classes in the unused rooms of a church 2 blocks from my house… But they only want to rent to not for profits.

I was planning on having a scholarship program for a certain portion of the students, but this would make it more formal. I’m guessing I can still charge tuition, and pay myself and other teachers an hourly wage? And anything above that would go into the scholarship fund? Am I way off base?

I feel a little intimidated by the paperwork this would require, so I might keep looking for other spaces, but I’ve got to get out of my tiny apartment soon!
