How can I decide that I need a rehair on my violin bow?

Pretty much once a year if you are a student playing not too much, but if you are putting in more time than half an hour a day, twice a year or more. You will start to feel that the bow just doesn’t catch the hair.

Also, find a good professional shop. The bow hair they use will be of better quality. I have also had bow rehairs where the hair was too loose or too tight, so again, a good violin shop makes a big difference.
