I have a 3 1/2 year old student that has been doing off the instrument lessons for 3 months now, and I have spoken to her mom about purchasing the 1/10 sized precello trainer. We have been in search of a used one as she is not thrilled at the price tag of a new one.

I value the importance of taking this step with my young student and would appreciate any links or information on finding a used precello trainer to purchase.

Thank you!

Since this post is from March, you’ve probably already sorted things out. but for what it’s worth…
Due to the expense of these, I have just had my young students begin with box cellos, made from reinforced family-sized cereal boxes and wrapping paper tubes. One family chose to make a foam cello (we traced a viola for the outline, but made it a bit thicker). The box cellos don’t last especially long—end pins have tended to get wobbly as I haven’t got the ideal design yet! I have used a toilet roll cut length-wise for a bow-guide to date, but I might use an uncut one with a young beginner in the future… we’ll see.

… this might not be a solution for right now, but, I wonder if the expense is large enough that parents don’t want to spend the money, might your studio be able to invest in purchasing one, and then you could rent it out to families as needed? After renting out to several families, perhaps the expense could be recouped.
