Good morning colleagues. I am hoping to get a little guidance finding the Cello equivalents to these violin books. Any help is greatly appreciated:
1) Josephine Trott’s Melodious Double-Stops
2) Kreutzer Etudes
3) Karl Flesh’s Scales

Best regards,

Hi Gabriela,
I’m not familiar with the violin books, but I do like Rick Mooney’s Double Stops for Cello. It uses familiar melodies, and the first folk songs in the book start with fingered notes against open strings, but advances progressively through to French Folk Song in sixths—four different keys, bass, tenor and treble clefs, and Twinkle with chords etc. Also includes one Lee and one Kummer exercise.

Alwin Schroeder’s 170 Foundation Studies for Violoncello is a popular exercise book amongst cellists—a collection in three volumes. The first volume includes a lot of Dotzauer and C. Schroeder, some Lee and the odd Gruetzmacher, Buechler, and Franchomme. I use it with some of my students (not the young kids) because it is what I learned from.

Perhaps some others can add more to this.
