Does anyone know of a good viola reading book similar to William Starr’s Adventures in Music Reading series? I can’t seem to find Starr’s reading books written for viola so I’m thinking they’re only written for violin.

Thanks!

I haven’t used the Starr books but I know that the “I Can Read Music” series (Joanne Martin) is available for viola.

Also, any fun method book or book of easy tunes for viola can be used as sight-reading practice…

If you need more ideas check out Denise Wiley’s “I Love to Read Music” books.

I frequently use “I Can Read Music” and Wm. Starr’s “Rounds and Canons” (viola version) for beginning readers.

A good system for note reading is Muller Rusch. The later books go into shifting as well. I’ve used them with great success for years. They are in print for all the instruments.
