Edward’s Violin Studio is seeking music teachers to join a growing Suzuki-inspired program focused on attention, listening, creativity, and long-term musical development.
We view music education not merely as skill development, but as the cultivation of attention, listening, and human flourishing.
This position is ideal for a teacher who enjoys working with beginners and younger students, values community, and wants meaningful mentorship while developing their own teaching voice.
We are not looking for someone to simply fill a teaching schedule. We are looking for a colleague who wants to help build a meaningful, renewing community centered around attentive practice, diverse learning, and creative expression.
Our goal is to help excellent teachers find their own voice, develop diverse methodologies for teaching, and become part of a supportive team.
ABOUT THE STUDIO
Our philosophy combines traditional Suzuki principles with ear training, improvisation, movement, and community music-making. We believe that learning music is ultimately learning how to pay attention—to sound, to the body, to other people, and to oneself.
Students participate in private lessons, group classes, performances, and creative musical experiences designed to develop both skill and confidence.
The studio serves families throughout Morris County NJ.
MENTORSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
One of the distinguishing features of this position is the opportunity for ongoing mentorship.
New teachers receive regular observation, coaching, and feedback from studio director Edward Obermueller, a violin teacher with more than twenty five years of experience teaching students in Suzuki and other environments.
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
This role can evolve in several directions depending on the teacher’s interests and strengths:
• Private instruction
• Group class leadership
• Early childhood music programs
• Suzuki teacher development
• Community outreach
• Studio administration and leadership
We view growth as a series of doorways that can be entered according to each teacher’s interests and goals. Accordingly, there is no single advancement track or requirement to advance.
This position is especially well suited to an emerging teacher seeking mentorship, a supportive community, and a pathway toward developing a thriving independent teaching career.
