This course prepares participants to teach the stage of violin study where students build fuller tone production and greater facility in the upper positions. Participants examine how to develop a richer, more resonant sound while maintaining ease and control as students spend more time beyond first position.

Participants learn to teach Baroque ornamentation and style, along with more varied and demanding bowing patterns. The course covers how to break these skills into manageable steps, and how to sequence them so students gain stylistic fluency and bow facility without losing the tone quality built in earlier units.

Participants also learn to guide students through longer, more complex musical forms at this stage, and how to strengthen memory and concentration as repertoire grows more demanding. The course addresses common challenges as students take on greater technical and musical scope, and how to troubleshoot them while keeping instruction encouraging and well-paced.
