Cello Unit 6 “Treble in Paradise” focuses on integrating advanced technique with musical confidence as students enter the upper‑intermediate level. In addition to the repertoire in Book 6, this course addresses treble clef fluency, thumb position development, expanded fingerboard geography, refined vibrato, and advanced bow articulation. Participants explore how to organize lessons that unify warm‑ups, scales, etudes, and repertoire, with clear pacing, and layered learning. Emphasis is placed on helping students move freely and confidently across the instrument while maintaining beautiful tone, expressive intent, and physical ease. Other topics include independent practice, motivation for advancing students (ages 10–14), and the evolving roles of student, parent, and teacher. Performance, observation, and teaching demonstrations support participants in refining both artistry and instructional clarity.

This six-week course meets Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 10:30 am (Pacific) from November 17, 2026 through January 5, 2027. (No classes 11/24, 12/22)

The performance practical occurs outside of class.

Requirements: 100% attendance; 15 hours of class; 8 hours of observation; play book from memory; synthesis exam; book report.
