Welcome to Unit 1, where we build a strong foundation for the musical journey of our students and parents! This comprehensive course will help you think like a teacher and give you the tools to approach teaching with confidence, love, and joy. Step by step, we’ll discuss practical strategies to set up your students for success as we build a clear approach to pedagogy, repertoire, technique and artistry.

  • Setting up a studio program—individual lessons, group classes, and business considerations

Format: Online via Zoom

Duration: 30 hours of instruction, 15 hours of asynchronous observation

This course will meet on the following Fridays from 9am-noon, PDT/PST:

Sept 11, 18, 25

Oct 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Nov 6, 13

If you have not taken Every Child Can, it will be offered Saturday, Sept 5. See the SAA listing for details and fees.

All participants will perform the entire book during the course of the class (memorization strongly encouraged).

Participants will observe recordings of my teaching each week and complete an observation form. 15 hours of completed observations are due by the last class.
