Join us for this unique opportunity to learn about a musical training system that is extremely new to the United States but is increasingly popular in European conservatories and orchestras. In this session, participants will learn some of the basic concepts of Timani, a movement system from Norway designed explicitly to help musicians understand and optimize their physical motions to use their bodies best while practicing and performing.

We will discuss relevant and applicable anatomy for music-making and explore a few simple and accessible exercises that can easily be incorporated into a range of teaching and playing environments. This session will be part lecture, part workshop, and, if time permits, part masterclass. All participants are encouraged to bring their instruments and actively participate in the session.
