  • Check-in: Sunday 12-5 PM
  • Required TWP orientation meeting: Sunday 6:15 PM
  • Classes and observations are held Mon-Fri, 8-11 AM and 1-4 PM unless otherwise noted by trainer
  • Additional live events at ASI include teacher/parent lectures, student recitals, and guest artist/faculty concerts. Not all of these events will be live streamed for online participants
  • Festival concerts occur throughout the day on Friday, concluding in the evening
  • Residence Hall checkout by Saturday 12 PM

Event Description

  • This course will be offered both in-person and online
  • Required observations may be live or pre-recorded, at the instructor’s discretion
  • Enrichment course hours will not conflict with regular ASI class hours of 8-11 AM and 1-4 PM
  • Observations are held Mon-Fri within the hours of 8-11 AM and 1-4 PM, unless otherwise noted by the trainer
  • Visit the American Suzuki Institute website for course prerequisites and requirements
  • $40 tuition rebate will be given to teachers who sign up for two Suzuki core units (SECE, Practicum, Enrichment, and Supplemental courses not included)
  • $25 tuition rebate will be given to teachers who sign up for a Unit or Supplemental course and a 10-hour Enrichment course in the same week

Special American Suzuki Foundation Rebate! The American Suzuki Foundation is offering a number of $500 rebates for in-person training to offset the cost of room and board. Contact the ASI office at [javascript protected email address] by May 1. Include the following information:
- The unit you wish to study (preference given to Unit 1 participants)
- Why you want to attend ASI in person this summer

Cello Unit 2

Audition: Cello Basic, or Cello Intermediate, or Cello Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by June 30 *

Trainer Information

Laura Shaw

Laura Shaw is on the cello faculty of the Preucil School of Music. She is also Assistant Principal of Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra. Laura earned her D.M.A. from the University of Iowa, and her Masters of Music from the Hartt School of Music, where she received her Suzuki training from Pamela Devenport.

Laura has won numerous awards, including the Pelzer Award at the University of Iowa, and a fellowship to attend the Aspen Music Festival. She has performed with Orchestra Iowa, Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony, and with the Corridor Piano Trio.
