Prerequisites: “Basic” Teacher Training Audition, ECC! and Unit 1 for any bowed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass).

Class Requirements: 10 hours of class time and 8 hours of observations.

Description: Teaching Strategies is similar to a mini-teaching practicum in which the participants
have the opportunity to share a short lesson video with the class and receive feedback. (In some cases, the participant may teach a live student and receive feedback after the student lesson.)

Trainer Information
Andrea Yun currently teaches cello privately in Ann Arbor and performs with the Michigan Opera Theatre. Andrea has served on faculty at the University of Michigan, University of Texas at San Antonio, and Bowling Green State University. Andrea has taught public school orchestra at the high school and middle school level. She has been a guest at many institutes, workshops, and camps, such as Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp, DFW-WOW Institute, and the Nashville Suzuki Institute. Andrea received a dual bachelor’s degree in music education and mathematics from Indiana University; a master’s degree in cello performance from Indiana University; and a doctorate in cello performance and pedagogy from the University of Michigan. Andrea’s solo performances have been heard on Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC) Radio. Andrea was awarded the honor of Teacher of the Year in 2020 by the Michigan chapter of ASTA, and is a Teacher Trainer through the SAA.
