American Suzuki Institute, Week 1

Modeled after Dr. Suzuki’s summer school, the American Suzuki Institute (ASI) was the first Suzuki Institute held outside of Japan. Since 1971, over 100,000 students and their families have visited Central Wisconsin from all over the world for summer study. ASI is an inspirational and immersive experience for students and teachers alike. Student classes are offered in person, and training courses are offered in person and online (specific modalities listed on our website in February). Check the ASI website for details on specific courses. Student offerings: July 20-25 (Week 1): Piano, Violin, Harp, SECE. Student offerings: July 27-August 1(Week 2): Cello, Viola, Violin, One-Week Chamber Music, SECE July 20-August 1: Two-Week Chamber Music. Electives for 2025 include: Yoga, Dance, Taekwondo, Artists’ Imagination, Viola for Violinists, and Fiddling. ASI is also a well-known teacher training center. In 2025, we will offer ECC, Violin Units 1-8, Violin Teaching Strategies, and at least one Cello unit. Scholarships are available. The American Suzuki Foundation is offering a number of $1,000 scholarships for in-person training. Scholarship applications will be available on the ASI website in February.

Student events begin with check-in, play-in, and a root beer float party on Sunday evening, July 20. Check-in begins at 12 noon and ends at 5 pm (Central). Events conclude Friday night, July 25. The two-week chamber music program begins with the same schedule, but it continues through the following weekend and concludes on Friday night, August 1. Classes run from 8:00-11:00 am and 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. Electives meet at 11:00 am. Honors recitals begin at 4:00 pm. Evening concerts and talent shows begin at 7:00 pm.
