Lakewood Suzuki Strings is looking for two highly qualified instructors who are passionate about the power of Suzuki Method teaching to build confidence, instill discipline, and incite joy in all children. An ideal applicant is someone for whom Suzuki philosophy is both a vocation and a lifestyle, extending into their teaching, other musical pursuits, and personal values. There is one position open for violin and viola, and one position open for cello.
-Violin/viola: applicants with teaching experience in the advanced viola repertoire, or applicants with professional viola performance experience, are especially encouraged to apply.
-Cello: applicants with teaching experience in the advanced repertoire, or applicants with professional performance experience, are especially encouraged to apply.
Both positions are part-time with ample opportunity for career growth.
Lakewood Suzuki Strings (LSS) is a Suzuki Method program offering violin, viola and cello instruction for children ages 3 and up. For more information, visit lakewoodsuzukistrings.com.
Duties:
-Teach private lessons to students ages 3 and up
-Prepare and lead Suzuki group classes
-Attend and lead student performances (both solo and group)
-Perform in faculty concerts and community performances
-Keep track of student attendance and progress
-Attend faculty meetings
-Communicate efficiently and in a timely manner with LSS administrators and families
-Foster a sense of community and inclusion amongst studio families
-Uphold the highest standards of professionalism in compliance with LSS policies
Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Music degree (required) and Master of Music degree (preferred)
-Registered SAA training through a minimum of Suzuki Book 4. (Preference is for applicants with training through Suzuki Book 10; however strong applicants with less training will be considered if they demonstrate dedication to continued Suzuki training beyond their date of hire.)
-Minimum 3 years Suzuki teaching experience
-Experience with group class teaching as well as private lessons
-Some professional performance experience
-Commitment to life-long learning and continued Suzuki education
Salary:
-$52/hour teaching compensation -$20/hour admin compensation for student recital and faculty meeting attendance -$300 annual professional development reimbursement for continued education -Additional compensation for faculty performances
