The Suzuki Institute of Seattle has a cello teacher position available at the school in the north-west area of Seattle. Founded in the early 1970s, the Suzuki Institute of Seattle aspires to improve the quality of life for our students through Suzuki Education, by creating a learning community which embraces excellence, teaches the whole child and nurtures the human spirit.
The Suzuki Institute of Seattle provides violin, viola, cello & piano instruction, as well as an Explore Music class for preschoolers. We offer weekly lessons, group classes, studio and group recitals, with opportunities for students to collaborate in chamber music groups.
Duties:
Teaching individual and group classes, preparing students for recitals and other events. Collaborating on group class curriculum and having a positive growth mindset who values creating community. Attending monthly faculty meetings and our four-day summer music camp at the Seabeck Conference Center.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in music is required, SAA registered completion of Every Child Can and at least Suzuki Cello Book 1. Ability to teach a range of students from very young beginners through advanced out-of-repertoire students.
Salary:
Starting pay $64-70/hour commensurate with registered Suzuki Training. Retirement benefits available. Annual $500 stipend to further Teacher Training and a $100 stipend to cover SAA dues.
