Course Length: 15 Hours of Online or In Person training and 8 hours of online or in person observations.
Course Schedule:
Fridays 11:00am to 2:00pm (Eastern Standard Time)
This course is limited to 10 participants.

Unit 4 is intended to further familiarize teachers with the technical and musical aspects of
Book 4 that will be needed for their student’s to perform in an artistic and technically
proficient manner. Diversity, equality, inclusion and access will be incorporated into all aspects
of this course as well as the Suzuki philosophy. The course will cover the pedagogical aspects
of Book 4, a thorough review of Books 1, 2, and 3, creative listening ideas, group class
techniques, music theory, note reading, remedial teaching, 2 and 3 octave scales, tonalization
and incorporating vibrato techniques into Book 4.
(This course will not be able to be registered with the SAA
unless all of the following requirements are met)• Attendance (15 hours) – mandatory attendance at all sessions for course completion.
• Observation – 8 total hours. Observations will all be completed online.
• Memorization of all Book 4 pieces.
• Playing Demonstrations
• Group play through of all of Book 4
• One solo of your choice – uploaded to YouTube with a link sent to [email protected]
• Teaching Demonstrations
• Present one private lesson teaching point from a Book 4 piece – your colleagues will be the
students and the demonstrating should last no more than 5 minutes.
• Present one group class activity from a Book 4 piece – your colleagues will be the students and
the demonstrating should last no more than 5 minutes.
• Written Assignments
• Road to Bach Bourree – Book Three Review
• Clean copy of Book 4; fully annotated with fingering edits, bowing edits, information, previews,
teaching steps and teaching points. Your book should be scanned as a pdf and turned in as an
email attachment to [email protected].
