Presented as a hybrid (All participants experience some parts online, and some parts in person).

Suzuki School of Newton hosts the Suzuki By The Green summer institute in its facility at 1615 Beacon Street, Waban MA located on the MBTA public transportation green line at Waban Station.  Located a 5 minute walk from the station, and in the heart of this small commercial center of the City of Newton, SBTG gives a unique opportunity for Suzuki Piano Teachers and Students to mingle and learn with the emphasis solely on piano!

The first four days (June 23-26, 2026) of Piano Unit 1 will be available online, but please come in person if you are available! Also available will be “Teaching Piano Group Class” as an enrichment class offered the previous week. Times are 10-12, 1-2:30 pm.

The second part of the course is Monday-Thursday, July 6-9 in the morning 10-12, and 1-3 pm and is ONLINE ONLY.

All repertoire of Suzuki Piano Book 1 must be memorized by the start of the course. A video recording of the entire book must be submitted prior to the start of classes. The course Every Child Can! is a prerequisite for Unit 1.

Piano Unit 1 will begin on Tuesday through Friday, June 23 - June 26, 2026 from 10am-12noon and 1:00-2:30 Eastern Time daily. The second portion is online only and will resume Monday, July 5 through Thursday, July 9 from 10-12, and 1-3 pm.

Asynchronous video observations, written work, and practicing teaching points will be required throughout the course, so ample time must be allocated outside of class time to handle all course requirements.

Monday evening there is a potluck supper.  Wednesday evening there is a student recital.
