In this hands on course, you will learn how to set up students of any age well on the instrument, so that they can enjoy a lifetime of success and fun with their cello.  It will give you skills on how to train the parent to be the home teacher’s assistant and engage each child so that they gradually develop ownership.

Learning by ear and establishing daily listening habits with the family are core aspects to this approach.  Pre-reading and beginning reading skills will also be covered.

In person observations will be set up during the course and on-line videos will also be available.  Observations are an essential part of the course and should be completed prior to the end of the course.

Nurtured by Love written by Dr. Suzuki, should be read ahead and a one page reflection on the impact of his ideas handed in during the course.

Teaching from the Balance point by Ed Kreitman is also required reading with a short essay as homework.

Note that tuition is on a sliding scale dependent on number as follows:

Tuition $1,350 CND if 3 participants, $1,100 if 4 participants, $975 if 5 participants, $850 if 6 or more participants. Participants need to pay the $1,350 and are reimbursed by the RCM after the course.
