-understand Suzuki Cello teaching method;

-teach cello by ear and set up beginning cellists no matter what age;

-teach beginning reading;

-communicate effectively with parents and how to teach parents to practice with their children;

-start a new cello studio;

Pre-Requisite course: Every Child Can!

Introductory Suzuki Cello Course:

-28 course hours
-15 hours of observation (both live and video observations available)
-Read Nurtured By Love written by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and write a 1-page personal reflection paper
-Suzuki principles personal interpretation for studio promotional use on websites or for printed materials.
-Memorization of all of Suzuki Cello Book 1 repertoire at the time of course completion
-100% attendance is required for this course to be registered.

There is no audition requirement for this course but it is recommended that your cello playing level be at least sufficient to completion of the SAA Level 1 audition (Book 4 pieces).

There is an in-person Every Child Can! offered on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at the Cincinnati Cello Institute in case you need this pre-requisite course for Suzuki Cello Book 1.

Thursday, June 4, 10-12 & 1:30-4:30;

Friday, June 5, 10-12 & 1:30-4:30;

Saturday, June 6, 10-12 & 1:30-4:30;

Sunday, June 7, 1:30-4:30;

Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 11:
In-person observations & 3:30-5:30 course hours plus individual meetings for the participants with the teacher trainer.
