National Suzuki Guitar Meeting in Argentina. Tucumán 2025.
25 years after the first Suzuki Guitar meeting in Argentina, a new National Meeting was held, organized by the Network of Suzuki Guitar Teachers of Argentina. It has its own place in the historic city of Tucumán from the 15th to the 17th of August 2025. At this opportunity, the Suzuki guitar community of Tucumán, with pioneering teachers like maestro Marco Ceraolo, generously opened its doors to welcome us! The Organization of the Meeting was carried out by the “Espacio Guitarra Suzuki Tucumán” in charge of Prof. Ivanna González Hidalgo, counting on the valuable collaboration of the host teachers. Several cities across the country assisted the event: Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Córdoba, San Lorenzo, La Plata, Pergamino, Ciudad Autónoma de Bs.As. in addition to the participation of a young teacher from Paraguay. We also count on the active participation of our Argentine Teacher Trainer Diana Chagalj (SAA), among other pioneering teachers and active members of the great trayectoria. The impact of our movement was recognized by the Municipality of the City of Tucumán that declared it Cultural and Municipal Interest.

This exciting event brought together 50 guitarists, including teachers and students, as well as dozens of families and the public from the city of Tucumán. Various activities filled with collective enrichment took place at the Rosita Avila Municipal Theater, where we performed in a grand concert. The meeting culminated with a heartfelt patriotic tribute to our hero, General José de San Martín, in the courtyard of the Historic House of Independence: a great honor for us! During these three days of the meeting, children, youth, and adults came together to promote fraternal bonds and values through music and the principles of the Suzuki Method!

This gathering continues a long history of Suzuki teachers and their communities seeking to disseminate and strengthen the foundations of the Suzuki Method in our country, cultivating our roots and fostering new connections. For more than 25 years, the Suzuki Guitar community in Argentina has enjoyed sustained growth, continuing to promote our music, history, and community.

News from Brazil
As part of the idea of creating decentralized actions for educational and musical events in large urban centers, the following event was held at the beginning of this year: Violin meeting in São José do Rio Preto welcomes, for the first time, one of the great references in Suzuki teaching in the world; Prof. Dr. Shinobu Saito.
On January 25th the Project “III SJRP Violin Meeting” was held. The city of São Jose do Rio Preto is located in the northwest of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The event was supported and subsidized by the Municipal Department of Culture, through a law called “Nelson Seixas” (named in honor of the late citizen, a great admirer and promoter of the arts).
The violinist and Suzuki teacher Camila Schneck, who has been specializing and promoting the methodology in Rio Preto and the region, proposed this project. The project is a continuation of the winning calls for proposals in 2021, 2022 and 2023, which aims to contemplate the children’s audience with presentations of traditional songs from national folklore in the string quartet format, bringing the repertoire to a pedagogical level.
In 2025, in addition to the traditional presentations that had already been held in schools, Suzuki methodology training workshops were offered. The teachers invited for the event were Dr. Shinobu Saito and Ricardo Sander, with the aim of training students, teachers and parents.
This action is of utmost importance for the training and strengthening of students in the methodology, as it makes them learn and remain increasingly active in it. Taking an event like this to regions in the countryside of São Paulo State contributes to the musical, social and educational development of the population, decentralizing and expanding the dissemination of the Suzuki method.
In previous years of the project, the idea was to promote contact with classical music through a string quartet, with children from the outskirts of the city who had never had contact with these instruments. From 2023 onwards, Camila realized the need to include training workshops for parents, teachers and residents in general, spreading the Suzuki Philosophy. Then, came the invitation to Teacher Trainer Shinobu Saito to join the project.
Shinobu gave a lecture on Suzuki Philosophy, shared her vast experience and explained each pillar of it. She also gave violin masterclasses and group activities: activities related to rhythms in a circle, musical games, focus and concentration approaches, as well as theoretical and practical exercises on the circle of fifths, scales, arpeggios and dynamics.
At one point, she exhibited videos of students playing other Suzuki instruments around the world, playing with great skill and ease. After much learning, the day ended with a delicious snack where participants shared more experiences and strengthened bonds.
Shinobu is the oldest teacher trainer in Brazil and Camila has been her student in several courses. “Bringing Shinobu to our city was a dream come true” (Camila). The event, which was highly anticipated by everyone, was unprecedented. We hope that this event marks the beginning of a new era for local culture, expanding increasingly to the interior and other locations.
