Description:

The WKU String Academy seeks a pre-college violin instructor for students aged 4-18. The WKU String Academy is a preparatory program for violin and viola students housed at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.

Duties:

• Teach private and group lessons • Participate in and attend student recitals • Communicate and work closely with WKU String Academy Director • Communicate clearly and effectively with student caregivers • Participate in local outreach and recruiting events

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in music performance or music education (violin or viola) • Training in pedagogy (registered Suzuki training, university-level courses, etc.) • Experience teaching applied violin lessons • Proficiency in violin or viola playing for performance and demonstration

Salary:

$45.00 – 60.00 Guaranteed 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters (15 weeks each) for the first year. The position includes potential summer festival teaching at the WKU String Academy, and potential adjunct teaching of university-level courses according to departmental needs.
