Suzuki School of Newton hosts the Suzuki By The Green summer institute in its facility at 1615 Beacon Street, Waban MA located on the MBTA public transportation green “D” line at Waban Station.  Located a 5 minute walk from the station, and in the heart of this small commercial center of the City of Newton, SBTG gives a unique opportunity for Suzuki Piano Teachers and Students to mingle and learn with the emphasis solely on piano!  Our unique schedule allows for Suzuki families to enjoy the rich cultural and touristic opportunites of Boston while also participating in an intense 4-day Suzuki piano workshop.  Monday’s potluck supper will allow families and students to mingle and socialize and Wednesday’s Student Concert will be held in a concert venue within walking distance of the SBTG institute. Be sure to plan to stay a few extra days and celebrate the Fourth of July in Boston with the Boston Pops free concert on the Esplanade and the Fireworks over the Charles River.

Suzuki By The Green Summer Institute returns after several years of hiatus!   Offering both Teacher Training with Suzuki Piano Unit 1 as either an in-person or online course (or a combination of these) and an “in-person only” 4-day workshop for Suzuki piano students, SBTG is excited to welcome you to Newton and Boston’s many attractions.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box, click “+1”, then click “get tickets”. Follow the process to enroll – you will not be charged any course fees, so proceed without worry.  

There is no confirmation screen, but you will receive an email confirmation after signing up.  Follow the directions in your confirmation email to complete payment.

Additional Scheduling Info 

This is a dual delivery course. The first three days will be Wednesday-Friday, June 25-27, 2025 from 10-12noon and 1-3pm.  There will be asynchronous observation via videos required or for those who are in person, they may observe in-person lessons here at the Suzuki School of Newton, home of Suzuki By The Green Summer Institute. The Teacher Institute continues for the four days, Monday thru Thursday June 30-July 3rd with the same hours 10-12noon and 1-3pm. There will then be the Student Institute masterclasses and group classes to observe from 3:30-6:30pm also Monday thru Thursday. Friday, July 4th there will be a Breakfast meet-up for those who wish to consult and converse with our two SAA Piano Teacher Trainers: Blancamaria Montecinos and Sachiko Isihara.

Tuition is $915 and the registration deadline is May 30, 2025.  Late registration may be possible space permitting, $965.

SBTG is ideal for those wishing to spend the Fourth of July holiday in Boston.  For students the early part of the day is ideal for sightseeing so Students' masterclasses are arranged in the later afternoon the week leading up to the 4th.  Be sure to note that the Boston Pops Free Esplanade Concert on Friday, July 4th is a true highlight!
