Let’s expose our Suzuki piano students to improvisation and creative composing!

Improvisation is a longstanding tradition for the piano and an important experience for all pianists and composers. Improv is an enjoyable activity that promotes self-expression and creativity, encouraging students to tap into their imaginations.

Every child can… compose! Composing is your students’ opportunity to capture and communicate original ideas and personal emotions through music. It is a joyous endeavor and an invaluable pedagogical tool to enhance musicianship. By melding the roles of composer and performer, a student, at any performance or theory level, achieves a remarkable artistic feat while enjoying the creative process.

These classes are in person (my home studio, Springfield, NJ) or online.

There are 4 class sessions in total:
Sun., Nov. 24, 2024:  4 - 6:30 PM EST
Sun., Dec. 8, 2024:    4 - 6:30 PM EST

Once you've started to work with your students in this new realm, follow-up classes are in the Spring in the style of 'Practicum.'  These sessions will include sharing video segments of your work with students:
student improvisations (duets with you or solo),
the start of your student's original compositions,
class discussion,
and your questions.

Sun., Feb. 9, 2025:     4:15 - 6:30 PM EST
Sun., April 27, 2025:   4:15 - 6:30 PM EST
The final class is a one-on-one session with me for 30 minutes, TBD individually through June 2025.
