I have a Suzuki concert coming up.

Can someone please tell me where I can get a book 1 viola/cello CD that has an intro to each song, like the Suzuki violin book 1 does?

Hi ¡
I have had the same situation. I have been working the audio files with the Finale program.
It’s very sad that the Viola CD doesn’t have neither the introduction for each piece neither the Piano accompaniment as the violin has.

  • For the very beginning of Suzuki book one (up through “Allegro”), Kerstin Wartberg has made a viola version of the “Step by Step” recordings. These include introductions.

  • Also for the beginning of Suzuki book one, Laurie Scott’s “Learning Together” book 1 comes with a CD that includes, with piano introductions:
    * Twinkle
    * French Folk Song
    * Lightly Row
    * Lullaby (aka Go Tell Aunt Rhody)
    * May Song
    * Bohemian Folk Song
    * Rigadoon

If you’re just looking for accompaniment, and not a recording with the solo part on the recording:

  • Steve Maloney announced the launch of Suzuki.AccompanyMusic.com in this post, saying that viola and cello accompaniments should be available this year (2018). You may want to check on that before subscribing:

  • Linda Perry’s MIDI accompaniment CDs have viola and cello versions. (This requires that you have a way to play MIDI files, but if you do, you can usually also set the tempo you want without any loss of quality)
