Dear Suzuki community,

I am conducting research related to the organization and development of Suzuki programs in community music schools. Having trouble locating literature on the following topics. I think these sort of things tend to get buried in talk of philosophy… not that we don’t all need that!

  • Status data about Suzuki programs at community music schools in America; locations, instruments offered, teacher training sites, institutional context (i.e. independent or divisional)
  • Sources that describe organization and development for Suzuki programs in community music schools (both independent and divisional)
  • Successes/difficulties incorporating instruction for viola, cello and/or double bass
  • Perspectives on beginning students on the viola; or on the violin and later switching to viola

Can anyone out there point me in a few good directions? Articles, dissertations, people to contact… any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
