I need some help in teaching tonguing for recorder. I have done the spitting rice, say tu etc. but any other suggestions? Thanks.

See if this helps. It has for me.

Pick a very rythmic text. Have them read it out loud or say if they know by memory.
Example Old Mac Donald.

Then, have the students do the rythm of the text on B, the first hole plus the added hole in the back.

This will immediately make them articulate with the tongue.

have fun with other texts and notes.

Good luck

You can use also the sound of snake like ‘TSSSSSSS’ preparing your tongue position and then, aflter, you can ’say’ ‘TU’ only using your tongue and your air .

This exercise is very good because is easy to feel the position of the tongue. And when the tongue change this position, you do the articulation.

All the best
