A three-day intensive cello/bass ‘immersion’ adult workshop is being planned in Vernon, BC (Canada) under the direction of George Kiraly at Vernon Community Music School. (Not sure—may also be appropriate for teens—inquire if interested!)

August 23 7:00—9:00 PM Initial reading rehearsal
August 24 9:00—11:30 AM Rehearsal, 1:30—3:30 PM Rehearsal
August 25 9:30—11:30 AM ‘Dress’ Rehearsal, 1:30- 2:30 ‘Performance’

An extra (early) reading session will take place June 10 6:30 PM.

The music is being arranged with a range of levels. Most parts will fall in an intermediate (about Suzuki book 4-6) level, but there will be an easier part also for those not at that level yet, and for the basses. Two of the pieces he is arranging are by Popper, as a tribute to Janos Starker: Gavotte in D minor and Wie einst in shoener’n Tagen (In Memory of my Parents). Other possible selections by Bach, Vivaldi, Klengel, Tchaikovsky, da Falla, Piazolla, and there will be some technical/etude warm-ups, and an optional pre-rehearsal 30 minute chair-yoga warm-up.

The cost is $175 + $15 for the optional yoga, and does not include housing or meals. A $50 deposit will be requested by July 1, refundable if the minimum of 12 cellists is not met by that date. The music will be available by email around July 1st.

Campocello for kids is offered the following week (M-F), same location (and previous week in Vancouver BC) by Morna Howie and Mary Thompson. The website is a bit out of date, but gives general info. http://campocello.com/

Please message me your email address if you would like more (and up to date) info!
