This course prepares participants to teach the next stage of violin study, where learning by ear remains the primary mode of instruction even as repertoire grows more demanding. Participants examine how to keep listening and aural memory central to the student’s progress while gradually increasing musical complexity.

Participants learn to teach string crossings and a wider range of bow strokes, along with early position-playing concepts. The course covers how to break these more advanced technical skills into manageable steps, and how to sequence them so students build confidence and control without losing the ease established in the previous stage.

Participants also learn to continue developing tone quality and intonation at this level, and to use repetition, careful listening, and parent support to reinforce new skills between lessons. The course addresses common challenges as students take on more independence and technical demand, and how to troubleshoot them while keeping instruction encouraging and well-paced.
