Piano Teaching Strategies

Every lesson offers an opportunity to grow—not only for our students, but for us as teachers. This collaborative course centers on observation, reflection, and practical problem-solving as participants share teaching videos, discuss real studio situations, and receive supportive feedback from colleagues.

Together we’ll explore lesson pacing, communication, sequencing, questioning, and one-point lessons while developing the habits of reflective teaching that lead to lasting professional growth. You’ll leave with fresh ideas, renewed confidence, and a deeper understanding of your own teaching.

4 weeks total, meeting monthly on Zoom for 2.5 hours. Maximum 5 participants.

How to Enroll

You must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active/Professional Membership to join the course roster below. 

Scroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box, click “+”, then click “get tickets”. Follow the prompts to pay the nonrefundable deposit for this course. 

After getting tickets below, you’ll receive a confirmation email from the SAA. You’ll also be able to verify your enrollment on your profile under Upcoming Courses.

If the enrollment box isn’t visible and you only see the waitlist option, it means you’re missing a course prerequisite on your training profile (Unit 1).
