Violin Unit 1
![]() | August 17 - November 2$735.00
Presented online. |
This Violin Unit One with SAA trainer Kirsten Marshall begins the complete cycle of Suzuki Violin pedagogy in books 1-10 over a two-year cycle. The classes will follow the University of Louisville academic calendar.
A deep exploration into teaching a child to learn by ear will be a focus throughout the course, along with developing a playbook that will allow a new Suzuki teacher to guide their beginning student confidently. What does the daily practice of ear training look like in lessons and home practice? How can we enable our students and families to continue their practice at home? Grounded in the Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy of talent education, this course introduces the foundation skills of Suzuki training -balanced posture, relaxed left hand and beautiful bowhand- all while learning with love. Workshop participants will be given opportunities to demonstrate in class and are encouraged to already have the book 1 memorized. Observations will be completed asynchronously and discussed in each class.
The University of Louisville with SAA trainer Kirsten Marshall is offering Unit 1 in an expanded format that will allow for in-depth exploration, interactive discussion and demonstration of teaching points. Classes meet online on Mondays from 9am-Noon EST for ten sessions. Individual consultations will be scheduled on November 2-3, 2026.
Every Child Can is a pre-requisite for beginning Suzuki pedagogy and is offered August 14 & 16, 2026.
