Founded in 2020, our Suzuki Music School is a growing international community based in idyllic Freiburg, Germany, at the edge of the Black Forest. Our current team consists of three experienced Suzuki teachers from Japan (violin/viola), Brazil (piano), and the United States (violin/viola).

We are now at full capacity, with an active waiting list and students ready to begin immediately. We are seeking a dedicated Suzuki violin teacher to join us at this exciting time as a newly incorporated school, as we expand our faculty and welcome additional instruments in the coming years.

We are looking for a musician who is deeply committed to Suzuki philosophy and a positive and uplifting teaching style, and who also values collaboration, creativity, and long-term student development.

Duties:

Teach individual Suzuki violin lessons and small group and ensemble classes
Work with students ages 3–13, from beginners to intermediate levels
Prepare students for recitals, ensemble performances, and (for interested students) music competitions
Participate in a minimum of two weekly planning meetings (one-on-one and full team) to coordinate group classes, recitals, parent education, and special events
Maintain clear and supportive communication with parents and colleagues
Contribute to the collaborative and administrative life of the school

This role is approximately 80% teaching and 20% administrative and collaborative work.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Music or equivalent degree
Suzuki Teacher Training completed through at least Unit 4
Experience teaching a wide range of ages and ability levels
Commitment to Suzuki philosophy and ongoing professional development
Basic conversational German and/or a commitment to learning German (minimum)

Salary:

Compensation is very competitive and commensurate with education and experience. The position is currently self-employed. Assistance with immigration paperwork can be arranged if needed. Relocation costs are not included.
