Our study of the pedagogical and relational aspects of the Suzuki Method will continue as we explore Book 2.

Course Length: 15 Hours of Online or In Person training and 8 hours of online or in person observations.

Objectives of the course

Book 2 is intended to further familiarize teachers with the technical and musical aspects of Book 2 that will be needed for their students to perform in an artistic and technically proficient manner. The course will cover the pedagogical aspects of Book 2, group class, music theory, note reading, scales, tonalization and vibrato.

Course Requirements

(This course will not be able to be registered with the SAA unless all of the following requirements are met)

  • Attendance – mandatory attendance at all sessions for course completion.

  • Observation – 8 total hours – all observations will be done online. Forms with attached videos can be found in the Shared Folder.

  • Memorization of all Book 2 pieces.

  • Playing Demonstrations

    • Group play through of all of Book 2

    • Two solos of your choice – one from Chorus through Bourree and one from The Two Grenadiers through Boccherini Minuet. Solos should be recorded and submitted as a YouTube link to [email protected].

  • Written Assignment

    • Clean copy of Book 2; fully annotated with fingering edits, bowing edits, information, previews, teaching steps, teaching points, review list and graduation list expectations. Your book should be scanned as a pdf and turned in as an email attachment to [email protected]

  • Teaching Demonstrations

    • Present one private lesson teaching point from a Book 2 piece – your colleagues will be the students.

    • Present one group class activity from a Book 2 piece – your colleagues will be the students.

$50.00 discount if you took Book 1 with me in 2025.
$90.00 discount for international participants due to the exchange rate.
