Presented with dual-delivery (Some take course fully online, some take it fully in-person).

Unit 2 focuses on developing expressive storytelling through more advanced bowing applications in distribution, hooked bows, and tapered endings. Left hand development evolves with shifting, vibrato, and open hand position. We’ll explore transposition, improvisation, and reading. Group experiences build community and can aid in student retention through the relationships that develop between students and parents. We will explore ways to incorporate and plan for these experiences.

This six-week course meets Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 10:30 am (Pacific) from December 2, 2025 through January 27, 2026. (No classes 12/23, 12/30, or 1/6/26).

The performance practical occurs outside of class on 1/19 and 1/20.

Requirements: 100% attendance; 15 hours of class; 8 hours of observation; play book from memory; synthesis exam; book report.

Online observations and the book report are to be completed BEFORE the first class.
