Countries’ Committee

Countries´ Committee – a group within the SAA Board of Directors dedicated to the affairs of the countries that make up the Americas.

Those who had the opportunity to attend the SAA Leadership Summit in March  will recall many memorable moments, especially the enormous involvement of the Latin American and Canadian communities, both of whom actively participated throughout the Summit. Our voices were heard, and projects we already worked on gained new support.

In addition to the many informative lectures, there was time for working group meetings focused on developing a Suzuki community engaged with current challenges to broaden the understanding that the SAA represents all the countries of the Americas. This means much more than just saying “America.”

Araceli Hackbarth, Leslie Mizrahi, and Nancy Modell presented a session about their work on the Countries’ Committee. This committee is an integral part of the specific activities of the SAA Board of Directors. The Countries’ Committee deals specifically with issues for all the countries that make up the Americas. This group also includes Andrea R. Álvaro, who has been vital in establishing fairer and more equitable parameters within SAA.

During the presentation, it was possible to follow the incredible work accomplished by the different Latin American countries; the fundamental role that associations and other Suzuki organizations have developed in their countries; the partnership between the Committee of Latin American Country Associations and the Canadian Association (LA/CAN group). All this work, which has been going on for many years, led to the creation of the Countries´ Committee.

It is important to recognize that being part of the dialogue to build a fairer and more egalitarian SAA nowadays, comes from many years of work, from the combined efforts of many other people who worked, or are still working hard, to achieve due recognition from all countries in the Americas. There are many of you! We extend our affection and gratitude to each and every one of you.

During the presentation, briefly mentioned the positive changes that are already taking place: access to the website by Committee members to correct translations in Spanish and Portuguese; strengthening of relations between the Committee of Latin American and Canadian Countries (LA/CAN group); reinforcement of the invitation to Latin American countries to strengthen contact and maintain constant communication; encouragement to all SAA members to follow what is happening in Latin America and Canada; the publication of materials and presentations in four languages.

We also shared some of our future projects: online meetings for Latin American teachers; finding spaces on the website and other networks to share photos and videos about each country; creating strategies to participate in the “We Are Suzuki” event; and planning an in-person meeting in 2027.

Comitê de Países – um grupo de diretores da SAA dedicado aos assuntos dos países que compõe as Américas.

Quem teve a oportunidade de estar presente no Encontro de Líderes da SAA em março, vai recordar de muitos momentos especiais, especialmente a envolvimento maciço da comunidade latino-americana e canadense no evento, ambos com participação ativa durante todo o encontro.  Tivemos nossa voz ouvida e uma série de demandas que já vem sendo trabalhadas, agora ganham uma nova força.

Além das diversas palestras muito interessantes que tivemos a oportunidade de assistir, também houve momentos de reuniões de grupos de trabalhos, sempre focando no desenvolvimento de uma comunidade Suzuki engajada com os desafios dos tempos atuais, e mais do que nada, com a ampliação do entendimento de que a SAA representa todos os países das Américas. Isto significa muito mais do que apenas dizer “America”.

Uma das palestras proferidas durante o encontro, foi dada pelas queridas Araceli Hackbarth, Leslie Mizrahi e Nancy Modell, à cerca do seu trabalho frente ao Comitê de Países. Este comitê é parte das atividades específicas da diretoria da SAA, que se une em grupos menores para tratar de diferentes assuntos que envolvem a SAA e seus associados. Neste caso, o Comitê de Países foi criado especialmente para tratar de assuntos específicos de todos os países que compõe as Américas. Neste grupo, ainda contamos com a presença da Andrea R. Álvaro, que tem sido fundamental para o estabelecimento de parâmetros mais justos e equânimes dentro da SAA.

Durante nossa fala, tivemos a oportunidade de mostrar o trabalho incrível que vem sendo feito pelos diferentes países da América Latina, do papel fundamental que associações e outras organizações Suzuki tem desenvolvido em seus países, e o trabalho em parceria entre os Comitês de Associações de Países da América Latina e a Associação do Canadá (Grupo LA/CAN). Todos estes trabalhos que estão acontecendo há muitos anos, levaram à criação do Comitê de Países.

Sabemos que ser parte do diálogo e da construção de uma SAA mais justa e igualitária nos dias de hoje, vem de um trabalho de muitos anos, da somatória de esforços de muitas outras pessoas que trabalharam ou ainda trabalham arduamente para conquistar o devido reconhecimento de todos os países das Américas. Sabemos que vocês são muitos, e fica aqui nosso carinho e gratidão a cada um de vocês.

Durante a fala, apresentou-se brevemente uma lista de mudanças positivas que já estão acontecendo: acesso ao site pelos membros do Comitê para corrigir as traduções em espanhol e português, fortalecimento das relações entre o Comitê de Países Latino-Americanos e Canadenses (grupo LA/CAN), reforço ao convite a países latino-americanos para fortalecer o contato e manter comunicação constante, incentivo a todos os membros da SAA a acompanhar o que acontece na América Latina e no Canadá, publicação de materiais e apresentações nos quatro idiomas.

 Também compartilhamos algumas das ações que estamos trabalhando para ver implantadas nos próximos anos: implementação de reuniões on-line para professores latino-americanos, busca de espaços no site e em outras redes para compartilhar fotos e vídeos sobre cada país, criar estratégias para participar do evento “We Are Suzuki”, planejar um Encontro presencial em 2027.
