The Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra is hiring a Suzuki violin teacher for our Gail Key Academy of Music (GKAM) program. The Academy provides fully subsidized Suzuki strings instruction to pre-K through 5th graders during the school day on elementary campuses. Students receive one private and one group lesson weekly in accordance with Suzuki principles.
Duties:
Full-time means Monday through Friday availability to offer strings instruction during the school day at participating campuses. Teach and organize private and group lessons for a maximum of 40 students in elementary schools. Teachers will be expected to plan a recital at the end of each semester as well as possible additional performance opportunities in the individual schools. School year: August-May.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education or Violin or Viola Performance and registered Suzuki training. Teaching experience. Clear and responsive communicator. Reliable, punctual, and well organized. Current documentation to legally work in the United States.
Salary:
Base salary $38,000 (based on nine-month commitment for the 2024-25 Season). Optional supplemental employment available through the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Wichita Falls Symphony “Artist In Residence” High School program. Please inquire regarding these and additional summer employment opportunities. GKAM scheduling allows opportunity to build an after-school private studio should you wish to do so.
