Violin/viola Unit 1

Tuition: $725

Unit 1 follows ECC and is specific to each instrument.  This unit, as with the following unit (book 2) contains viola.  Therefore the course is open to both violin and viola teachers.  Unit 1 is perhaps the most important Unit in a teacher’s training containing, but not limited to, the following:

The importance of listening and how to help parents establish
a working listening system at home
Core body balance
Basic violin hold and bow hold set up
Main teaching points for each piece
Suzuki concepts of listening, one step mastery, repetition,
parental involvement in the Suzuki triangle
Emotional and psychological approaches to teaching, especially
the very young child
Physical left hand balance
Beginning bow technique and expanding to easy whole bow
command
Most importantly how to develop beautiful tone!

There will be five 6-hour sessions:

Sunday, September 22, 2024: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Saturday, September 28, 2024:10:00am – 4:00pm
Sunday, September 29, 2024: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Saturday, October 5, 2024:     10:00am – 4:00pm
Sunday, October 6, 2024:       12:00pm – 6:00pm

Prerequisites: 
Every Child Can or Filosofia
Violin or Viola Basic, Intermediate, or Comprehensive Audition
