Do you enjoy working with young children and introducing them to the magic of playing an instrument? Would you like to co-teach and/or lead classes in our unique Early Childhood Program for pre-school-aged children?
We are a small community music school on the UWS of New York with a warm and engaging program for young children and their families to experience the joys of instrumental play and an introduction to the Suzuki method.
We are looking for an enthusiastic string teacher with experience working with very young children and their parents to join our Early Childhood Music faculty.
Our small classes of children ages 2-5 years introduce the string instruments and piano, along with a creative exploration of the elements of music, using rhythmic play, singing, movement, and individual instrument turns.
Availability on Saturday mornings and/or Friday afternoons is a plus.
Please let us know about your teaching experience as well as your experiences working with young children.
Duties:
Connect with children and their parents and enthusiastically lead classes with multiple activities, including singing, moving, playing live music, and working with children to play instruments with proper set-up.
Qualifications:
Violinist, violist, or cellist with Suzuki background or Suzuki teaching experience. Suzuki Book 1 training is a plus. Experience with young children and interest in their development and learning styles is recommended.
Salary:
Beginning salary of $60/hour
