Suzuki Online Seminar—Teacher Trainer Information

Dear SAA-Approved Teacher Trainers,

If you are interested in leading l a SAA Online Seminar (SOS), a unique, temporary program, the SAA website is ready to present your session! Many thanks to those of you who responded to our survey about participation! Your encouragement is moving the project forward!

GUIDELINES FOR WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO PRESENT A SAA ONLINE SEMINAR:

  • Decide upon a topic for your seminar.
    (It may be possible to repeat the seminar later or offer a second proposal.)
  • Provide a title and a short seminar description of 2-3 sentences.
  • Seminar to include interactive participation and discussion, not limited to lecture or presentation.
  • Instrument-specific in most cases; intended to expand upon or supplement Suzuki unit material but not overlap with material intended for core courses.
  • Topic should be effective online—not primarily focused on tone or sound quality.
  • Set  up the seminar in the Partners’ area of the SAA website at least 3 1/2—4 weeks in advance to allow time for sign-ups
  • 5 hours in length, taught online via ZOOM. Schedule the seminar over two days, 2 1/2 hours/day. (Days do not need to be consecutive.)
  • Enrollment on SAA website: Minimum: 4; maximum: 6 participants
  • Prerequisites for participants: SAA membership, registered ECC or Filosofía plus Unit One. If you wish to add additional requirements, please include that in your description.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW AS REGISTRATION MOVES FORWARD:

  • SAA provides the class list, approximately 10 days out. As needed, seminar cancellations will occur 10 days out.
  • You are to make any further arrangements and provide participants with Seminar “invitations”
  • Participant fee online @$105 US per seminar. No refunds provided for online experiences.
  • Trainer must have a proven computer setup with quality video, audio, reliable internet access.
  • Trainer is responsible to make specific further arrangements and provide participants with Seminar “invitations”
  • Trainer needs to be flexible if technical problems occur.
  • From your post-seminar roster, SAA will provide registration of SOS participation.
  • You will commit to completing a post-seminar evaluation, focusing on data on the online teaching experience.
  • SAA will provide an honorarium of 425 US$ per seminar. (990 MISC issued for $600 or more received in total from the SAA within calendar year)
