SUMMARY:Violin Unit 2
DESCRIPTION:Join Suzuki Violin teacher Trainer Stacy Garner as we move beyond the notes on the page. Our study of Suzuki Violin Book 2 focuses on deepening our understanding of tone production while building the technical foundation that supports students as they progress into the upper books. \nThrough guided study\, participants will explore how refined bow control\, balanced posture\, and listening skills shape a resonant\, expressive tone. Emphasis is placed on developing techniques such as shifting and vibrato that are not just correct\, but sustainable and applicable as the students move through the more advanced Suzuki books. \nThe course includes 15 hours of online coursework\, with an additional 8 hours of instructor-provided asynchronous observation required\, which allows participants to analyze teaching in action\, strengthening their ability to identify and nurture healthy technique and beautiful tone in their own studios. \nBy the end of the course\, teachers will have a clearer framework for cultivating tone\, a deeper understanding of Book 2 repertoire\, and a more intentional approach to guiding students toward long-term technical success. \nThis course will be held on Wednesday evenings via Zoom and is perfect for busy teachers\, college students\, and professionals. The weekly format supports deeper learning by giving participants time to apply concepts directly in their teaching between sessions and return with questions and insights for further discussion. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. Follow the prompts to make payment in full for this course.  \nAfter getting tickets below\, you’ll receive a confirmation email from the SAA. SUMMARY:Cello Teaching Strategies
DESCRIPTION:This 10-hour pedagogy masterclass is designed to enhance teaching skills in a supportive\, trust-based environment. Rather than focusing on repertoire\, this course centers on how we teach—strengthening observation skills\, refining communication\, and reinforcing the strategies that create meaningful learning moments for students and families. Each session functions as a pedagogy masterclass in which participants present their own teaching for feedback\, gaining practical insights to improve effectiveness. It is a prerequisite for Unit 3 training. \nAt each class\, participants share their prepared video excerpts (6–10 minutes) of their individual and/or group teaching\, aligned with their registered training level. At least one video must feature an individual lesson with the student playing Suzuki repertoire from memory\, and include visible interaction between teacher\, student\, and parent whenever possible. Videos serve as a springboard for collegial discussion\, allowing the group to celebrate effective teaching and identify one or two high‑impact areas for growth. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. Follow the prompts to enter your payment information to pay the nonrefundable deposit fee.   \nYou will receive an email confirmation after signing up with instructions on how to pay the balance of the tuition.  You can also verify your enrollment from your profile under Upcoming Courses. \nIf the enrollment box isn’t visible and you only see the waitlist option\, it means you’re missing either an audition or a course prerequisite on your training profile. Please join the waitlist while you complete that class or wait for your audition results. You can check your training profile here to see what you are missing: https://suzukiassociation.org/person-profile/ \nIf you have any trouble enrolling here\, or if you wish to update your training profile with any missing courses\, please write to info@suzukiassociation.org.  \nAll transactions are final and non-refundable.

SUMMARY:Cello Unit 5
DESCRIPTION:Cello Unit 5 “Leveling Up: Style\, Substance\, and Artistic Voice” marks a significant artistic and technical turning point in Suzuki cello study. We will explore how to develop the singing style\, expressive maturity\, and growing independence in our students as they move fully into the middle‑intermediate repertoire. At this level\, technique and musicianship converge\, and students are challenged to perform with personal commitment\, stylistic awareness\, and refined musical intention. \nWe will discuss the development of efficient practice habits\, musical problem‑solving\, and student ownership of learning. How to establish scale and arpeggio routines\, alongside etudes and supplementary materials\, to reinforce technique within a musical context. \nWe will also discuss the evolving roles of student\, parent\, and teacher during the middle‑intermediate years\, including motivation\, goal‑setting\, performance preparation\, group lesson design\, and maintaining connection to Suzuki philosophy as students assume greater responsibility for their progress. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. SUMMARY:Violin and Viola Teaching Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Teaching Strategies shifts the focus from what to teach to the art of how to teach—where real growth happens for both teacher and student. \nGrounded in the Suzuki philosophy that we learn best through observation and collaboration\, this course offers a dynamic\, interactive environment. Participants will explore a diverse collection of teaching videos\, engage in rich discussions\, and gain practical insights that can be immediately applied in their own studios. \nLed by Suzuki Violin Teacher Trainer\, Stacy Garner\, this course provides a supportive space for Violin and Viola teachers to reflect\, refine\, and reimagine their teaching approach. \nParticipants will share 10–20 minutes of their own teaching videos from private lessons\, master classes\, or group settings and receive feedback from the trainer and other participants. Bring your teaching questions\, challenges\, and ideas\, and leave with fresh strategies\, renewed confidence\, and a deeper understanding of what constitutes effective teaching. \nPlease have your videos easily accessible via an online drive for seamless sharing during class. \nImportant: As of January 2025\, Teaching Strategies is a required course for all Suzuki teachers before enrolling in Book 3 training or beyond. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”.
