Mr. Zachary A. Preucil
Zachary Preucil serves on the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC), and is a coach for the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra’s chamber music program. Previously, he served on the faculties of the Kanack School of Musical Artistry, Music for Youth of Arlington Heights, and as a teaching assistant at the Eastman School of Music. He has also been invited as guest improvisation instructor at MIC and the Wheaton College Community School for the Arts.
Zachary received his M.M. in Cello Performance and an Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where he was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society. He received his B.M. in Cello Performance with Academic Honors from the New England Conservatory of Music. Zachary’s primary teachers have included David Ying, Yeesun Kim, and Walter Preucil. Additionally, he has completed Suzuki training with Tanya Carey, Jean Dexter, and Rick Mooney. Recently, he has appeared in performances with the Midsummer’s Music Festival, the Caroga Lake Music Festival, the Chicago Cello Society, the MIC Chorale, the MIC Faculty/Guest Artist Series, and as a soloist with the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall. He is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Chicago Federation of Musicians, the Chicago Cello Society, and the Creative Ability Development advisory board.
