Mrs. Yumemi Turk
Yumemi (M.M) is a native of Los Angeles, California, and has been playing piano since she was four years old. She started Suzuki lessons at The Colburn School under the tutelage of Kathleen Summerland-Heuser and Lois Lepley and continued to study at Colburn until her acceptance to University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in BM Piano Performance with Dr. Charles Asche.
She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at University of Houston where she studied under Nancy Weems, Alicia Shirley and Dr. Courtney Crappell.
As a competitive pianist, she frequented the competition scene in Los Angeles and has won several competitions throughout Southern California including winning a trio competition that allowed her to perform with professional violinist Martine Verhoeven and cellist James Arkatov (The founder of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra). She has also been honored to perform in numerous Master Classes with renowned pianists such as Murray Perahia, John Perry, Delores Stevens, Mitsuyo Ezaki and Kevin Fitzgerald. Through her musical successes, she have performed and competed in many countries including Czech Republic, Japan and in the US.
Yumemi has taught since 2005 throughout the United States including California, Georgia and Texas. Starting in March 2016, she will be available to teach in the Torrance area.
