Yoko Furihata Waynen

Yoko Waynen began studying violin at the age of 3 at the original Suzuki school in Nagano Japan and proud to have received pointers from Dr. Shinichi Suzuki himself. She earned her Bachelors in Music from Soai University in Osaka, Japan and later continued her violin studies at the University of Wyoming, where she was a finalist in U.W.’s Concerto Competition, performing Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. From there, she continued violin studies at Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. receiving master classes from some prominent players such as Joseph Silverstein.

After moving to Cape Cod, she joined the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra & The Simon Sinfonietta, where she enjoyed 10 years performing classical, pops, and holiday concerts for audiences of all ages. Yoko is currently a faculty member at the Cape Cod Conservatory and also gives private lessons at her music studio in West Barnstable.
