Valerie Malvinni is Director of The Suzuki Music School of Santa Barbara offering Violin, Viola, Cello, and Guitar and Piano lessons. We teach all ages and levels, starting at age 3. We offer advanced lessons for those ready to go beyond Suzuki. In summer, Valerie Co-Directs the Santa Barbara Suzuki Institute.

Valerie began Suzuki violin at age 5. Valerie is a violinist and violist who performs with the LA Philharmonic and is former Principal Violist of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra and former member of the Santa Barbara Symphony. She received her BM from
The Curtis Institute of Music and MM from University of California, Santa Barbara. She did doctoral studies at University of California, Los Angeles.
She is Professor of Violin and Viola at Westmont College and Santa Barbara City College. Previously, Valerie taught at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff.
Founder and Director of The Suzuki Music School of Santa Barbara. Valerie also is a proud Suzuki teacher and parent of an 11 year old violinist who soloed with the Santa Barbara Symphony and parent of a 9 year old classical guitarist who was a cometition winner of the Boston Guitar Festival.
Our students have gone on to major in music with scholarships or have majored in other disciplines but continued to play their instruments in college symphonies.

We also lead a Youth Ensemble, quartets for students book 4 and up, and teach fiddle and guitar ensembles.
